Professional Portrait Photographer in Milan – Elena Volotova

I’m a portrait photographer based in Milan, originally from Moscow, with 20 years of experience behind the lens. My journey began at 17, when my father gave me my first camera. From that moment, I discovered photography as a form of meditation—a way to lose myself in the beauty of the world around me.
Although my formal training is in engineering, photography quickly became my true calling. It’s the perfect blend of technical precision and creative expression.
Over time, I gravitated toward portraiture, inspired by the heartfelt feedback from friends and clients. In Moscow, I collaborated with top model agencies, fashion designers, and remarkable women entrepreneurs and professionals. Each project was an honor, a chance to craft images that revealed both beauty and strength. One of my favorite memories is of a client whose fiancé, moved by her portraits, proposed right after our session—a moment I’ll never forget.
My artistic vision is deeply influenced by Peter Lindbergh, Helmut Newton, and Paolo Roversi. Like them, I strive to create timeless, evocative images that go beyond surface beauty, capturing emotion, story, and essence.
Photography has taught me to connect deeply with people. Whether a session is calm, full of laughter, or tinged with nervous excitement, I embrace each mood and translate it into portraits my clients treasure. The messages and reviews I receive afterward—telling me I’ve brought joy, confidence, or even tears of happiness—are my greatest reward.
Now living in Milan, I’m a wife to a loving husband and mother to a spirited Russian-Italian girl. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me cooking, exploring fun gym classes, or traveling to new countries. Each experience enriches my perspective and fuels my creativity.
